There will always be a first time for everything and yes, this is the
first time that Ink|Rush will serve you with the up-to-date reviews of the
hottest and most-awaited movies across the universe!
Last January 18, Ink|Rush had the wonderful opportunity to watch the Red
Carpet premier of the said film at SM North Edsa IMAX Theather courtesy of
Pinoyexchange.com’s Twitter contest few weeks ago.
Left out in the woods by their father, the young Hansel and Gretel;
afraid and cold in the heart of the forest, found their way into a house made
of candy. There they have met face to face a horrible old witch who put Gretel
in chains and Hansel in bars. With a liitle courage and a handful of wits, the
two youngsters have managed to set the witch on fire and save their lives.
Thus, Hansel and Gretel’s witch hunting began.
Before I can actually see the movie (and the trailer for that matter) I
was a bit skeptic about it. Another classic tale with forces of the dark added.
By this I mean vampires, etc. With this movie, it was witches. Great! I have
said to myself.
However, when the film starts rolling, I found myself engaged with how
the story was crafted and how the graphics have been so real to me. Yes, it is
indeed beautiful. I might say this also to the other movies I have seen and
will see. It has the same outline of story as some has; parents abandoning
children for their safety, good over evil, heroism, a liitle bit of romance,
and a lot of action with bullets and punches flying here and there. But this
story? I was most enthralled on the brotherly and sisterly love the two
characters have for each other. They have displayed a bond almost anyone would
want with their brother or sister and they are the coolest pair I have seen so
far.
I want to tell the whole story but I might not be able to capture every
detail, especially the effects of “swishes- and-swooshes ’ (if you know what I
mean). Even if I tell you know, you might want to stop me and just see it for
yourself.
If there are things I learned from watching, I would want to borrow
what Hansel said:
“There are two things we learned
in life. One, never get in a house made of candy. Two, if you’re going to kill
a witch, make sure to set her ass on fire.”
See it yourself and tell me I was wrong.
