Best online Group buying site in the Philippines

Sale, discounts… Shopping! Admit it you’re a shopaholic. And what’s the new trend? Online Group Buying --- a hassle free way of shopping with great deals and discounts. Without a doubt, group buying websites have plagued the Philippines. Group buying is getting deals and discounts through the power of bulk buying. It’s really a fine way of getting big online discount with deals going up as high as 90% off the original price. In most cases, too, these deals are exclusively offered through the sites. Anywhere else, these group discounts are not available — not even in the stores themselves.

So here it is Ink|Rush gives you 8 of the most popular site among Filipino Netizens. Read on and get the lowdown on this Group Buying Site that gives you a convenient way of finding discounted deals.

  • Beeconomic

www.beeconomic.com/philippines

Beeconomic is the local version of the original Groupon site. Groupon is the pioneer in terms of innovative group buying and they are the ones that have started this huge innovative business. With Groupon being one of the pioneers of group buying in the world, Beeconomic not only operates in our country but also in Singapore and Malaysia. Their association with Groupon and the exclusivity of their offers (for example, Hexagon Lounge at the RCBC Tower and wagyu steak at Melo’s) are some of the reasons why Beeconomic are on our list .Deals are usually focus on the food, health, beauty and wellness function.

  • Buyanihan

www.buyanihan.com

Averring to be the first in the country, Buyanihan is one of the few group buying sites that has an active non-Manila counterpart. Aside from the Manila deals, Buyanihan also has a simultaneous offer for the city of Cebu. Like most group buying sites, their offers are in the food, health, beauty and wellness arenas. Buyanihan also has some unique product offerings like the summer deals that they have launched to cater to those who would want to save money on their summer vacations.

  • Deal Grocer

 www.dealgrocer.com

Deal Grocer is a private sale group buying site wherein they want you first to be part of their membership club before you can actually see their complete products offerings. Despite of this fact, Deal Grocer stands out from the rest of the group buying sites because they focus on the premium line of products and services. Deal Grocer is clearly positioning itself as the site that offers “a taste of the good life”. Check out, for instance, some of their offers: a private helicopter ride for P15,600 (orig. price: P25,000) and a P4,950 weekend stay at The Farm at San Benito (orig. price: P8,540). And dissimilar to other group buying sites, there is no minimum number of buyers required. Instead, they use a voucher system wherein the deal goes on as soon as the voucher is bought.

  • eBay Kuponan

http://kuponan.ebaysocialapps.com

Kuponan is a service provided by Ebay, the world number one auction site. eBay Philippines’ Kuponan is emerging to be a top contender in the local group buying market. Kuponan undoubtedly was a strategic move by eBay to further settle their hold on the local online buyers’ market. Like the other sites, they require a minimum number of buyers before a deal goes on. With eBay behind the site and the thousands of eBay users as potential sellers, Kuponan will surely rank among the top group buying sites in the country.

  • Ensogo

 www.ensogo.com.ph

When you say Group Buying Site, one of the names you’ll hear is Ensogo. Why? Because they  provides a number of deals to can save you up to 90%. The beauty about ensogo is its simplicity in terms buying a deal. You can pay through Paypal or thru any local banks like BPI and BDO. They have really marketed their websites to reach a mainstream audience and have made it a point to provide the kind of service that you expect.

  • CashCashPinoy

http://www.cashcashpinoy.com

CashCashPinoy provides a number of deals for its market that can help them get discounts up to 90%. They features not just one but a dozen offers from various trusted merchants. The thing about CashCashPinoy is that they continue to innovate and improve their product offerings and their website.

  • MetroDeal

www.metrodeal.com

MetroDeal has a huge Facebook following, amounting to more than half a million followers to their advantage. The main concern that I have is that it would be pretty hard to get a reservation on weekends if you have more than a thousand people coming to a merchant in less than a year. You have to consider if the merchant can handle their bulk buyers especially on service industry.

  •  Pakyaw

www.pakyaw.com.ph

The reason why you have to check out Pakyaw is that you have to check out because they can offer incredible deals that you simply have to purchase or you end up waiting for another season for you to purchase if ever they will make it available. Though they really have amazing deals but their disadvantage compare to other Group Buying sites is that they don’t have a Paypal buttom for you to pay for their deals.

A Single's Prayer

Single ka rin ba?
42-15799170

So I tried to search on the prowl. I tried look for this person everywhere. In short, -I’M LOOKING FOR THE ONE.
Meron man.. may kapartner na. O kaya yung gwardya.

February 14 2009. Valentine’s Day.
Araw ng mga puso. Araw daw ng mga lovers. (So kaming mga single walang puso, ganun? ) Almost all of my friends have their dates so I was left with only 2 choices: stay inside the house and savor another night of dreadful singleness… or: – GET OUT AND LIVE MY LIFE.
This time, I chose the latter.
And since I’m dating nobody this Valentine’s day, I decided to DATE MYSELF. “I will give anything to my date.” I assured. “What do you want for dinner? “ I thought of getting a Baked Zitti and a Garlic Bread again so I went to MOA (Favorite talaga. Malapit lang kasi samin.) again only to find out nandun pala lahat ng lovers/ couples. (May Lovapalooza party kasi.) And I mean they were literally everywhere! And they are invading Sbarro! I tried to walk away as fast as I could.” Because it’s Valentine’s Day they (lovers) think they own all the places.” I said bitterly. So lumipat ako sa akala kong mas konti ang tao- sa Rice in a Box. Groowwrrrrr!! May Boypren ka na nga eh! Ano pa gusto mo?!!! Porke ba Valentine’s Day ngayon at single ako kaya lahat na lang, pati banaman sa pila gusto niyo kayo bida?! “ sa isip-isip ko kaso hindi ko na nasabi kasi biglang inannounce nung kahera na out of stock na yung order ko. o Diba? May discrimination talaga!
Naiinis na yung “date” ko so I decided to relax and shake those stress away. So I asked ” Wanna go clubbing?” It sounds good to me that night so sinagot ko naman yung tanong ko ng: “Sure!” and the next thing I knew, I was in in front of The Bar*, the busiest and the hottest club that night in Malate. mrjp1ca34s2h2caz4s5r4caxa9g5kcacjvsbtca8qk0wecaj5732ecaqgd9i5caer0nescaaftyzqcalf044wcagxxqtwcaoggmnscab3c8m6canehtwuca9cuvfscab4uorscaltak9nca31hgl3cao7d1tm
2oo pesos equals to 3 stubs consumable to drinks. Usually, I only pay for the entrance and give the stubs to my friends and go straight to the dancefloor kasi hindi naman ako umiinom. (hindi na.9 yrs na.) The club was jampacked. Hindi mahulugang karayom. And ofcourse, it’s VD, so hindi pa rin ako nakatakas sa mga couples sa loob. I tried to ignore them and took me a bottle of San Mig Lite. It’s my first beer bottle after 9 yrs! “I will do everything I want tonight.Well, just for tonight.” after getting it from the bar, I tried to sail away from those dancing couples before I curse them out of jealousy and checked out the other single people around. I know I am an optimistic person and Iwas still hoping before that Valentine’s Day ends ,at least somehow, some magical thing will happen that someone is destined to be there wating for me to finally meet. I spotted some few goodlooking… but that night, I was doomed to be so invisible.
The clock striked 12 o’ clock.clock
… And that magical thing never happened.
I began to sink again. What’s wrong with me? Am I not good enough for someone to have? Do I really have to look like this bitch on the corner licking a guy’s face to be liked? Am I too prudish?
I went out gloomily from the bar for a quick break. I missed smoking. I thought and took a stick from a street vendor across the street. That’s the 2nd indulgence that I had after the beer. I’m still busy thinking about my miserable life as a hopeless romantic single ” looking for someone else” when someone appeared also to be” looking for something else” . A woman opened the garbage bin infront of me and started digging those plastic cups from the bottom. I realized that she’s collecting plastics to sell. “ she said. I offered her to get some hotdog sandwich, my treat but she said that 5pesos will be enough to buy rice. She needs to get a good heavy dinner.
I stood there gaping as she took the 5 peso coin from my hand and walked to check the garbage bin standing at the next street.
OMG.How selfish I am!
That puts me back into sanity again. I threw the half consumed cigarette stick on the street and decided to END THIS BULL—-. And when I say Bull—-, it means stop the searching. Stop the whining. Stop complaining.Stop the waiting.
And just like that, I finally decided to STOP my insanity and JUST LEAVE the country.
TAMA NA. KUNG MERON, DARATING NA LANG YAN. But for now, I gotta do what’s best for me. I will sign the contract to work abroad and fly next week. It’s 3:45 am.I’ll just consume my last stub for a mineral water and go home by exactly 4am. I did my last march inside the bar and give myself my “last dance” as it played my much awaited song ” Shining Star.”
My eyes were closed, moving to the beat, savoring my last few minutes on the jampacked dancefloor. Not caring anymore if people thinks I am the loneliest single person who went to the bar alone that night.
The time is 3:52 a.m. And just about when I was ready to leave, feeling the music for the last time as it fades away,I suddenly felt that someone is also “feeling” my private!
I immediately backed off and looked who owns the hands that “rocks” my cradle. And there, beside me was a 50 year old drunked man who looked like the fish ball vendor where I bought the cigarette, his shirt pulled up and was almost showing his private! I cried for help but no one could hear me because of the noise aside that the club is banging! I tried to escape but the floor is packed I can’t even move! And look, the 50 yr old man is attacking me!!!
For the very first time in my life….
Biglang may kamay na humila ng braso ko and captured me away from the attacker As I opened my eyes, I realized I was held locked inside someone’s arms… And I’ve never felt so safe in my life before. I looked up to see the person who saved my private part…and the most- my dying heart. Instead, I saw the most beautiful smile in the world that night that only helps me to throw my arms on his neck tightly. Help me! pls!”
“Ok. ” He said staring straight back at me as if I am the only person that exists on the dancefloor. “I’m Topher*… Ok ka lang? ”
I tried to check for the 50 yr old guy who started to move back away from us amusingly as he disappeared from the crowd.
” I think I am now.” I assured him as I exhaled for relief.
“Ok.” Topher said. Then he enveloped me inside his arms again. Much better this time. “…Just stay here.”
And when he said “stay here”, he means -”inside his arms” where I was meant to be all along.
I checked my phone. it’s4 a.m. – Topher was a Buzzer Beater.
I couldn’t help but smile and shake my head as I recount the unpleasantries I had that day. After a series of unfortunate events, who would’ve thought this story will end up to become the most beautiful Valentine’s Day Story of all time in my life? And just when you thought everything has blown up… suddenly, something will come up to make everything alright. Yes, I have concluded that this kind of twisted fairy tale love story only happens in movies . But that night… that kind of twisted fairy tale love story – happened to me.

LESSON?
-Even a hopeless romantic single’s prayer in the middle of a noisy dancelfoor can be heard.

Signs Of The Times: End Of The World Prediction

Many pictures and films have showed cataclysmic events leaving people in myriad of emotions. Fear and terror, wonder and doubt, even mockery has enveloped the hearts and minds of the masses about the end of the world predictions. Many have prophesied, many have interpreted, but when is the exact time when the world is coming to its end?

The Mayan calendar has been making a clamor these days with its “predictions” about the world’s end since we have come to the year 2012 where the Mayan had stopped counting days. Does this mean life is really going to end this time, for real? And do the Mayans only have a say on this?

WHO ARE THESE MAYANS AND WHAT’S WITH THEIR CALENDAR, ANYWAY?

The Mayans were said to be a very highly developed civilization and were to be found in the jungle of Mexico and Central America. In the whole of ancient America, it was said that the Mayans were the most developed. The Mayans were found to be very intelligent as supported by their books, calendars, study of Astronomy and number system.

The Mayan calendar is a system of complex and highly developed calendars created by the Maya civilization of pre-Columbian Mesoamerica. Since it is a system of highly developed calendars, they have three series of calendars including the Tzol’kin, a sacred 260-day calendar; the Haab, a 365-day calendar and the calendar round which is a 52-haab cycle synchronizing the Tzol’kin and Haab cycles.

A “LONG COUNT” CALENDAR: AS IF THREE ISN’T ENOUGH?

According to the “Goodman, Martinez-Hernandez, and Thompson” correlation (also known as “GMT”) this was said to have started at [0.0.0.0.0] (Maya record) on August 11, 3114 BC. “GMT” was the most widely accepted correlation between the Maya and Gregorian calendar. It was said that this cycle is 1,872,000 days in length and would end on December 21 (ad 2012) which falls on the winter solstice. Lounsbury, another widely used correlation, states that the start-day was August 13, 3114 BC and the end that would be December 23, AD 2012.

SO THIS MEANS THE 21ST OF DECEMBER 2012 MARKS THE DOOMSDAY, RIGHT?

Luke 21:5-11 (KJV)

v.7 Then they asked himTeacher, when will this happen?”  And what sign will there be and when all these things are about to happen? 8 He answered, “See that you not be deceived, for many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am He’, and The time has come’. Do not follow them!
v.9 When you hear of wars and insurrections, do not be  terrified; for such  things must happen first, but it will not immediately be the end.” 10 Then he said to them, “Nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom. 11 There will powerful earthquakes, famines and plagues from place to place; and awesome sight and mighty signs will come from the sky.

In verse seven notice that Jesus was asked as to when the end times will come. We could say that the word “they” was used to refer to his apostles (or maybe the disciples). And those people would have been the closest to him. If you will be in Jesus’ shoes you could simply answer the question straightly and give a specific time since the ones who were asking were really close friends, right? Jesus simply did not. He enumerated signs but did not exactly tell when these things shall happen or come to an end.

Wars, famines, earthquakes, plagues and mighty signs were spoken of. Which one of these has not yet been experienced in a thousand years? None. All of which came to pass and surely there will be more to come. But this does not assure the immediate end of the world.

Why would Jesus tire himself of a lengthy answer when he could have given the exact date?  Maybe he does not want them to pay more attention to the coming end but to focus on what they can do while they were living and serving for Him. Maybe he wanted to focus on their purpose and calling and work on it rather than do nothing but wait for the end of the world that surely will come.

A SLICE OF HISTORY BEFORE THE WORLD ENDS

Wars and Conflicts

Great wars had passed, alright. There was the First and Second World War. And there is still the wars occurring in the Middle East; in Iraq, Libya, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria  and even in Israel just to name a few.  Conflicts are everywhere. Nations cause fear among other nations. The world’s history has been a witness to these conflicts. One of those memorable and shaking conflicts occurred September 11, 2009 when the Al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked four commercial airliners and crashed two of them into the World Trade Center and Pentagon, in United States of America killing nearly 3,000 people.  There were many more to date and we do not have to enlist them just to point that conflicts and wars existed are still existing.

Earthquakes

Japan and Haiti were just the recent among the many earthquakes that happened all over the world for a very long period of time. We have no records of the most previous earthquakes that occurred when people are not yet gathering them for keepsakes so we cannot tell exactly how many have already passed by.

Plagues

AH1N1, Swine flu, Avian Influenza, SARS; these are just some of the diseases that broke out and created such a widespread chaos among the nations. There was the HIV-AIDS that still threaten and takes a hold to many lives. Not to mention the diseases that have already been a "household" disease.

Famines and Droughts

Here is the list we have found on the internet regarding the worst famines that had occurred around the world to date. (http://www.ranker.com/list/the-worst-droughts-and-famines-in-history/drake-bird)

1. Great Chinese Famine - from 1958 to 1961, as few as 15 million and as many as 43 million were killed as a result.

2. Chinese Famine of 1907 - In a matter of months an estimated 24 million people were killed.

3. Indian Famine - took place between 1896 and 1902, claimed an estimated 19 million lives.

4. Bengal Famine of 1770 – took place between 1969 and 1773 in what is a now part of Bangladesh. An estimated 15 million perished in the famine, which was blamed on greedy principles from the British East India Company's rule.

5. Northern Chinese Famine - this disaster lasted from 1876 to 1879 and is believed to have killed 13 million people.

6. Indian Great Famine of 1876-78 - took the lives of as many as 10.3 million, affected over 250,000 square miles in India. The two-year famine also distressed over 58 million in the Madras, Mysore, Hyderabad and Bombay areas.

7. Great European Famine - was actually a series of crises. The tragedy, that killed an estimated 7.5 million people, was caused by strange weather and unrelenting rains.

8. Soviet Famine of 1932-33 - remembered by some as the Holodomor, a term that translates to "hungry mass death." Between seven and 10 million were killed in the area, which is now part of the Ukraine and Siberia, among other areas.

9. Chinese Famine of 1936
Hitting China over a few months in 1936, the Asian country lost an estimated five million people during the Chinese Famine of 1936. This incident was one of several to affect China during the first part of the 20th century.

10. Russian Famine of 1921

Though it may have killed as many as 10 million, the Russian Famine of 1921 is considered to have resulted in five million deaths. This disaster affected the Volga-Ural region and was believed to be as a result of hard times during World War I.

FACTUAL FORECAST

Many people constructed “predictions” and made “prophecies” about the world’s doom. Some have proven themselves phony for after the date they have released, the earth is still revolving around the sun; the people are still busy with their businesses. The gathered facts above were presented so that you would be able to make your own conclusion as to when really will the earth stand still and everything will end.

v.7 Then they asked himTeacher, when will this happen?”

Like the disciples, we might also want to ask, with all the commotion and chaos that are already present, “when will these things come to an end, really?”

V.9 when you hear of wars and insurrections, do not be terrified; for such things must happen first, but it will not immediately be the end.”10 Then he said to them, “Nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom. 11 There will powerful earthquakes, famines and plagues from place to place; and awesome sight and mighty signs will come from the sky.

Again, we gathered the facts that can be read above so that we can examine this. Many we have heard of the wars, the powerful earthquakes that threatened the hearts of humanity. Many are the lives lost in the famines and plagues that have been experienced. Many even are the signs that we have seen across the sky, most can be explained by the Science.

“…for such things must happen first, but it will not immediately be the end.

These things are just the mark of the beginning for the things to come. And when all these things have passed and then the end will draw near. The fact is these already happened. They are still happening even. So we can expect that the end may be nearer but not nearer than it could have been beforetime. Who would have known, it could be this year, as “predicted” or maybe next month, next week even, or tomorrow. Maybe the end is today. Doom’s day may be knocking it’s way on the door.  See for yourself.
V.32 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.  (Mark 13:32, KJV)

Bitten by the Love Bug

(Trivias about Valentine’s Day)

·         During the Middle Ages, it was commonly believed in France and England that February 14 was the beginning of birds' mating season, which added to the idea that the middle of Valentine's Day should be a day for romance.

·         The oldest known valentine still in existence today was a poem written in 1415 by Charles, Duke of Orleans, to his wife while he was imprisoned in the Tower of London following his capture at the Battle of Agincourt.

·         By the middle of the 18th, it was common for friends and lovers of all social classes to exchange small tokens of affection or handwritten notes, and by 1900 printed cards began to replace written letters due to improvements in printing technology.

·
In the 1840s, Esther A. Howland began selling the first mass-produced valentines in America. Howland, known as the “Mother of the Valentine,” made elaborate creations with real lace, ribbons and colorful pictures known as "scrap."

·         Today, according to the Greeting Card Association, an estimated 1 billion Valentine’s Day cards are sent each year, making Valentine's Day the second largest card-sending holiday of the year. (An estimated 2.6 billion cards are sent for Christmas.) Women purchase approximately 85 percent of all valentines.

·         Did you know that nearly 150 million cards are exchanged each Valentine's Day? Or that more than 40,000 American are employed at chocolate companies?

St. Valentine: Three Different Stories, One Man

One legend contends that Valentine was a priest who served during the third century in Rome. When Emperor Claudius II decided that single men made better soldiers than those with wives and families, he outlawed marriage for young men. Valentine, realizing the injustice of the decree, defied Claudius and continued to perform marriages for young lovers in secret. When Valentine's actions were discovered, Claudius ordered that he be put to death.

Other stories suggest that Valentine may have been killed for attempting to help Christians escape harsh Roman prisons, where they were often beaten and tortured.

According to one legend, an imprisoned Valentine actually sent the first "valentine" greeting himself after he fell in love with a young girl--possibly his jailor's daughter--who visited him during his confinement. Before his death, it is alleged that he wrote her a letter signed "From your Valentine," an expression that is still in use today.

Although the truth behind the Valentine legends is murky, the stories all emphasize his appeal as a sympathetic, heroic and--most importantly--romantic figure. By the MiddleAges, perhaps thanks to this reputation, Valentine would become one of the most popular saints in England and France.

Dear Love

Dear Love,

I really don’t know what to say. It’s normal, I think, that I still considered you as a stranger. I’m not sure if it’s you I encountered not a long time ago or should I say I can’t (really can’t) considered it as you. Perhaps, it’s just an imagination or illusion that somehow I felt your presence. How I wish it was you. But as I reconsider it, the answer would be really ‘No’. What I felt is nothing compared to how people you already met describe you. They say you’re really powerful that when they met you they just have to oblige. You are everywhere. People talk about you endlessly. And for someone like me I can’t help but have this feeling of wanting to know you.

I love the idea of being in love. But as I look into the mirror I ask myself, am I ready to meet you? Have you? Feel you? The answer would be probably ‘No, not for now.

And please spare me just for now, just for this moment. Though I’m really curious about you, that don’t mean I am ready to come across you yet.

As I’ve said a lot of people say things about you. Like when they encountered you, everything in their life changed. Some might say before they have had you, they’ve been through a lot. They’ve been hurt, their heart have been shattered, cried because of false hope that they met the real you. But everything they’ve been through contributed on who they are now; happy contented with meeting you.

In my case, I want to be ready for all those kind of things. So while I’m waiting for the right time to meet you, I would let myself grow, learn and prepare for the things that come along with you.

I would let myself grow. In time I’m going to be matured and confident enough. I would try to let go of my insecurities to be confident enough to be woman, a real one. Cause how come someone would love me if I myself can’t accept the fact that I have imperfections. Even if I’ll do everything just to get rid of it, our society set a very high standard that an ordinary lady likes me can’t easily achieve. Soon enough I know I’m going to learn to love myself for who I really am and not for what the society dictates me to be.

I would let myself learn. Learn on what life is teaching me. Learn enough things that I can brought along in my journey cause no one exactly knows what this life has to offer. Maybe for now, I’m still trying to figure out where my journey would lead me to and as Taylor swift sing it out, maybe for now I’m just a girl trying to find a place in this world, but I would stay strong on whatever challenges this life have. In that way I can be prepared for the things that come along with you like heartaches.

As some people said, you and pain comes in tandem. For some reason, many believe that you won’t feel love without getting hurt. And some might point you out as the cause for their pain. I kind of disagree with that. For me, the real reason why people get hurt when they’re in love is because of lies, pride, regrets, expectations and a lot others that we vulnerable human create. It’s just that we tend to expect a lot from others and when they can’t meet this expectation we are so disappointed. We are all created beautiful but not perfect and have different standards. We have to accept the fact that we can be wrong a lot of times. So what’s their point in blaming you for our own mistake? Come to think of it, it is love we turn to when we got hurt and have are hearts wounded; the one that gives us healing and makes us trust again and try again until we learn and meet the real, genuine love we all want. We just have to wait.

Yeah, I know, we ordinary human are impatient. We try to rush everything, even God’s plan; His plan of meeting you in His own righteous time. I would borrow a line from Joshua Harris’ book, “True love waits… it waits for the right time to commit to God’s brand of love – unwavering, unflagging and really committed.” This explains it all.

Anyway, I won’t make this too long. I just really wanted to tell you that I’m not afraid of you anymore but am still not ready enough to meet such powerful emotion like you. I’m on the stage that I’m preparing for our own encounter. So when I have to meet you face to face, there will be no turning back.

Some would probably say I’m saying this because I’m still young and idealistic, but I’m really hoping (very much hoping) that I’m going to meet you at the right place at the right time with the right person. And surely I will say waiting for you is truly worthwhile.

Drowning in the K-Wave

From telenovelas to movies, from language to music, from looks to style, indeed Korean wave has hit the Philippines harder than a tsunami. Everywhere you go, anywhere you look there is this Korean touch and I do not know what magic those chinky-eyed, yellow races have in the Filipinos.

As a youth I honestly admit that in some way, somehow I have been affected and influenced by the Korean sensation. In terms of “Koreanovelas ” and movies, I bow to them. They do have interesting plots and really good, well thought of endings. But as a Filipino youth, I find the K-wave very alarming and deteriorating to the Philippine patriotism.

K-movies and telenovelas. Yes, they are being aired on Filipino channels. Yes, they give high ratings more often than not but I think it is harmful in a sense that it can unintentionally and subconsciously suppress the talents of Filipino TV and movie script writers. It is either they could be fully dependent to the Korean-produced TV shows or they could be so caught up in the K-wave that they end up copying the plot and thought or idea of their story from the story of those Korean telenovelas.

Language and music. Some of our fellowmen, especially the youth nowadays, are busy learning the language of the foreign even when they have not mustered their own. They are so anxious to learn the Korean writing that they would only laugh if they are asked if they know fully their ABAKADAs and Alibatas. In music, maybe they are so fixed to listening to the K-Pop bands and girl groups that they would patronize them over the OPM bands and singers of the country.

Looks and styles. Even in look and styles, Filipino youth get high with the Korean fever. I don’t intend to promote wearing traditional Filipino wears because it is not very appropriate with our weather condition but please, over the top layers of clothing and striking colors? Come on! And their hairstyles? Only a few looks good with those. Could not we just be as we are? Could not we be original?

I have nothing against the Koreans and all. It is good to experience changes once in a while. But to make it a part of our lifestyle, considering we are not Koreans? That could be degrading for the part of our heroes. Aren’t we being enslaved by another country once again? I guess Filipinos are not just tired enough of following other countries that we cannot stand and proudly say. “I am a Filipino, proud to be Pinoy” because really, do we prove ourselves proud of our race and nationality? I guess not… not wholly.
